Black Red and Yellow + Selfish Giving

Hello and welcome to The Cooking Wardrobe.  Hope you  are all keeping well and feeling great.  I am doing just fine in my little corner.

I am a giver, well I believe I am.  We all know giving is a selfless act, a good thing which is supposed to make both the giver and receiver happy.  I was taught growing up that it is better to give than to receive and I have proved it many times as is gives me great joy when I do it;  however I think both parties should feel comfortable with it.  There are times when I have given, only to realize later that wasn't the right thing to have done at the time. Being a giver, I sometimes ignore the body language of the receiver because as far as I am concerned, giving is a good thing and the receiver will eventually be happy with it.  You see, even though my intention is good, if I am making the receiver uncomfortable then I see it as a selfish act.  I am doing it for myself, to make myself feel good and not because the receiver needs it.

Another type of giving that has been bothering me of late which also puts the receiver in a funny position is what I like to call "the trumpet blowing giving".  Why blab first before giving?  So I am giving someone a dollar with my right hand whilst blowing the trumpet with the other hand so everyone within the vicinity at the time would see and know that this is what I am doing.  This is also for myself and not for the receiver.

These days, in as much as I want to help out,  I am learning to respect whosoever needs by help by simply asking them what they want from me,. Many a times all someone needs is a good listener to support them emotionally and the last thing on their mind is material or financial help.

Thank you for stopping by and reading.  Let me know your views on giving in the comments box and hope you like the outfit.

  4. I am with you on that Elsie darling. I try to stay anonymous in giving. Let praise be unto God that made it possible for me to give in the first place. But this look is beautiful. I love the matching purse and head wrap. Bright and beautiful. Happy Sunday. http://fashionablyidu.blogspot.com/

  7. I love your outfit. I believe in giving, but to give without expecting anything in return. To give is a wonderful thing, sometimes the receiver may have pride, but at least you've done your part. Great colours on you here. <3

  10. Love your blacks with your bright headwrap and fabulous clutch. Sometimes the only thing you can give is your time and ability to listen and understand. Have a good week.
