A Lifestyle Blog With An African Twist

Blue, White and Red Outfit

Hello and welcome to The Cooking Wardrobe.  Happy Sunday my lovelies.  I wasn't going to post today as I have been having joint pains recently and last night felt a bit painful than the previous nights.  So this is what aging is all about?  Oh how time flies.  It feels like it was only yesterday that I was laughing at the "old" forty plus women in my family complaining about joint pains and back pains and pains all over.  Hmmmm.

I remember thinking that the older people were just plain lazy and they complained  so as to get us to do all the chores while they relaxed.  I remember them having to sleep in  after attending a party the previous day, or will dance to three or four tunes and quickly look for somewhere to sit down and catch their breath.  I remember them using hot towels on their knees and shoulders and thinking, gosh, its a hard life for these ones.

So I hit forty and I am rubbing my hands thinking this is not as bad as it looked back then, but wait a minute, why do I get up on the second attempt if I have been sitting on a low chair? Why do my joints ache when its cold? Why can't I walk for miles in high heels anymore?  Have I managed to scare all the under forties yet?  Relax guys, its wonderful being in your forties but some days, just some days your crispy bones will rebel and I am fine with that and life goes on.

Today's outfit I put together as a shout out to my American friends.  Stay blessed and have a lovely week.

  3. You are ready for the 4th of July in your outfit! ;) You look lovely, my dear, as you always do! I especially love these earrings/clips (?) - they look so unusual to me. I am sorry to hear about your pain and I wish it goes away soon. I think when we were younger, we could be less thoughtful about our physical body - it was forgiving. Now we just need to take a little extra care about ourselves. I'm still learning it. xxx

You look very chic in the photos, so lovely of you to put together an Independence Day outfit for your American friends.
By the way don't worry about the walking miles in high heels part - I was never able to do it, at no age! ;)
Also thanks a lot for the Liebster Award! I've already received it in the past but will do another post about it because it's fun! :)

  9. Nice outfit, Elsie. Great way to show your support for us Americans. I love your earrings. I am well into my forties and still feel younger most days but I can relate to the occasional aches and pains.
