A Lifestyle Blog With An African Twist

Orange and Green Woodin + A Liebster Award

Hello and welcome to The Cooking Wardrobe.  In May 2014 I was nominated for a Liebster award by the lovely Nikolattina of Just Because I Like It .  I accepted the award and was going to do it but could not find the questions on her blog, then in May this year I received another nomination from beautiful Jodie of Jodi√©'s Touch of Style.  Thank you ladies.

The Liebster Award is an award given to new bloggers to help them grow their following by introducing them to other bloggers and followers. Liebster is a German word which means, beloved, sweetheart or darling.  The nominee is required to answer the questions asked by the person who nominated them and then nominate eleven other up and coming bloggers.

Since I could not find Nikolattina's questions, I will answer Jodie's below.
1. How did you decide on the name of your blog?
I originally named my blog Elsie and Family then decided to change the name.  I had three names but could not decide which one to use so I did a post asking my followers to vote for the name which they liked best and The Cooking Wardrobe came up tops.

2. What was your first “real” job?
When I completed high school, I worked for Plan International in Sierra Leone.

3. What is it that you love most about blogging?
Taking food photos (I love my food haha)

4. What is your favorite food?
Palm Butter Soup and Foo-Foo

5. What is your favorite thing to drink (alcoholic or not)?
Any non-alcoholic drink (I'm not too fussy)

6. What is an item you cannot live without?
Probably my phone? Not sure about this one, can't think of anything that I will really miss if I don't have it.

7. What are five random facts about yourself?
I cry at the drop of a hat (now you all feel sorry for my husband HA the poor man)
My sisters are always teasing me because I say sorry even if I haven't done anything
I am an introvert and I married one too (Happy days)
Red and Blue are my favorite colors.
Somehow, all the cars that I have owned have been white

8. What is your dream vacation?
Visit Hawaii and Cocos Island

9. What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Let your yes be yes and it is better to say no than say yes and not live up to your promise.

10. Do you plan to fight aging or age gracefully?
I plan to age gracefully, probably its because I can't afford cosmetic surgery

11. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I would like to have grown this little creative corner of mine.

  1. Hi Elsie! I can't find enough superlatives for your dress! It's better than fantastic and gorgeous! Orange and turquoise are two of my very favourite colours right now! As you may know, I've been sewing my wardrobe and I'm intrigued on the pattern alignment in your dress. Is is a single fabric, the flowes and circles? If so, it is such an ingenious way of laying out the fabric! I really want to give something like this a go. Thanks for the inspiration.

PS I recently made a dress with a similar neckline. I find it to be really flattering!

    2. Hi Sue, thank you so much for your beautiful comment and yes I hope I get to go to those places. I had this dress custom made in Ghana last year and I have received lots of lovely compliments anytime I wear it. The circles were on both ends of the fabric and the flowers in the middle. The seamstress did wonders in cutting and placing the circles to flow downwards. I wish I could bluff my way in saying that I did it myself. lol.

  16. Awesome and very figure flattering dress Elsie darling. Glad to learn more about you. We have a lot in common. I cry at the drop of a hat, I over compensate with my 'sorry, so sorry', and I'm an introvert. I just don't like red and blue that much hehe. You look stellar girl. http://fashionablyidu.blogspot.com/
