Whole Orange and Chocolate Cake

Well hello TCW readers!!!!  What a great day to visit.  Grab a cuppa and let's talk about this chocolate and orange cake right here in all its glorious deliciousness (cue happy sound track).  This cake is the ultimate, not too sweet, soft indulgence fit for a stormy day or any other day whatsoever 😜😃.  You all know I can't keep the recipe to myself so here we go.
preheat oven to 170c
Ingredients: 2 cups flour, 200 gms butter, 4 medium sized eggs, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp salt, 150 gms dark cooking chocolate, 2 navel oranges, 11/2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp each of vanilla and orange essence.
mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
put the oranges in a pot, cover with water and cook for 30 minutes
cut the cooked oranges into wedges
blend the oranges in a food processor into a paste consistency, then add butter
and sugar and pulse to combine
 then add chocolate and blend
then add egg one at a time
and flour mixture, alternating between egg and flour and pulse till the mixture is well combined
 add vanilla and orange essence
pour into a well oiled cake tin
then into the oven at 170c fan forced for 45 minutes or till a skewer comes out clean when tested
cool on rack, then sprinkle some icing sugar on top.  serve with ice cream or whipping cream.  we had both.    Enjoy!
