A Lifestyle Blog With An African Twist

An Uncomfortable Experience

I had a strange creepy experience last week at a pub where we went for our end of year office lunch. I still cannot believe the gall of the dirty old man who thought it was appropriate to walk up to me and call me his black diamond and it didn't stop there, he went further to tell me that his massage therapist was from Africa and they took "good care" of him.  Why he thought I needed to know that, is beyond me.  It still didn't stop there, he then went and sat at the table just behind ours and every time I turned around to look at the other end of the pub he would wave and make a gesture.  All my best efforts to ignore this man and not make a scene could not stop him from shamelessly walking up to my table and rudely interrupting the conversation I was having with my colleagues to show me a card he took out of his pocket.  What an insult ehn?  So I put on my assertive voice and said, LOOK YOU ARE MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE.  Oh sorry, he said but I thought you were from (I will not name the country here) and I said NO I AM NOT.  Then he started to walk away then laid his left hand on my shoulder.  Why would this animal touch me even after I had warned him?  Soon after that, we left and went back to the office and everyone called it a day.

On my way home, I decided to pass by the shops close to my house to pick up some grocery and as I was walking out of the galleria, I heard "hello my black diamond, sorry I wasn't trying to offend you".   It felt like I was in a bad dream and was never going to wake up.  I pick up my bags and ran to my car.   I am still in utter shock about the whole incidence.   I have never had such an experience before and to say I was shaken is an understatement.  At my age I cannot believe the negative impact this incidence has had on me this past week all because of a cheap animal who I don't know or have never seen in my life that tried to step into my personal space.

Today's outfit I wore to church.  Another dress custom made in Ghana, hope you like it.  Enjoy the rest of your week and have a Merry Christmas.   Eat as much as I will be doing, don't worry we will go on a diet together after the holidays.

A snippet of today's message is "we have to go deeper to experience God's beauty"  Stay blessed!!

  1. Your church dress is beautiful, Elsie. I'm sorry you had an experience with a creep. I'd say he was just very lacking in social skills but the bit about the massage therapist is unsettling. I hope you are feeling less upset by now. xoxoxo

  8. That was definitely an uncomfortable experience.
I would have ran into my car as well, without looking black.
So many questions would have been going through my mind. Was he following me? Was this a coincidence? Did he know me before. So scary.
